Peter Kuruvita joins The Tamarind Cooking School for an exclusive collaboration

Peter Kuruvita is an award-winning chef and restaurateur, TV presenter, author, culinary tour guide and food & beverage consultant. Inspired by his childhood in Sri Lanka, Peter’s signature style combines fresh local produce, infused with spice and global flavours.

Peter is well known for his time at Sydney’s iconic Flying Fish Restaurant & Bar which he opened in 2004, and successfully led the kitchen team as Executive Chef & co-owner for 8 years. This successful model and signature style travelled to Fiji in 2008 where he operated the successful Flying Fish Fiji for over 10 years.

In 2013, Peter opened Noosa Beach House in partnership with Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort. in his hometown, Noosa. Featuring a fine dining restaurant and busy all-day open terrace bar, Peter operated this famous Noosa drawcard for 8 years until 2021. In 2019, the restaurant won the coveted Sunshine Coast Business of the Year award.

Peter’s project for Parkridge Noosa created the iconic food precinct Alba Noosa in 2021. The beautifully designed venue became famous for its restaurant, events and state-of-the-art Cooking School. The collaboration was finalised in 2024 with an Australian Good Food Guide ‘Chef’s Hat’ and Alba Noosa continuing as an event venue.

Peter has published 3 cookbooks over the years and presented 5 x TV series with SBS Television, which air on many networks worldwide. His shows combine beautiful scenery with sensational local cuisine. Peter also curates and hosts culinary tours of his ancestral home, Sri Lanka.

This year, Peter will be joining The Tamarind Cooking School, hosting three exclusive classes and sharing the secrets of Sri Lankan cuisine.
