I was greeted with such kindness and this continued throughout my stay. I booked a beautiful room that overlooked the vine yards. The room was fantastic. Clean, modern, and had a fantastic view. The rooms were big and beautiful. I can’t complain about this hotel. The sauna and pool was great, the restaurant was fantastic, and all of the facilities were clean and modern. The restaurant located inside the hotel, was delicious. I dined here for breakfast lunch and dinner.

I asked if chef could do me duck for dinner – no issue other than it was chefs night off. Again, not an issue – the staff are so very well trained the apprentice chef stepped up & prepared the most perfect dish. That’s when I set the challenge: could chef do it the next night? Of course he could but could I tell the difference? - No I love my duck & until our recent visit to STL my No1 duck was from Robert De Niro’s Locanda Verde restaurant in NYC whilst No2 was from Tableau in Vancouver. Not any more: No 1 spot now goes to the Hunter Valley & STL! From the room staff, the restaurant staff & the front of house staff, everything is seamless & easy to achieve. Ask & it seems, “you will get”. We have now stayed in all three Spicers resorts in the Hunter Valley plus Sangoma & Balfour in Brisbane. They are all excellent but STL is without doubt one of the best all-inclusive properties in Australia & we have stayed in many of them. Jude Turner has created something wonderful with Spicers but of the ones we have enjoyed, I think STL tops them all, easily. We booked our return stay days after arriving home & that, I think, says it all
