The 2 Day experience departs once a week on a Friday morning. Depending on whether we have reached the minimum numbers required.
How long in advance do I need to book?
We encourage guests to book the Scenic Rim Trail at least 7 days in advance, however, if it’s less than 7 days, give us a call and we will see if we will be able to accommodate you on 13 77 42.
What level of fitness do I need to participate?
The Scenic Rim Trail is graded moderate to hard and is designed for people with a good level of fitness who have had previous hiking experience. Day 1 is graded moderate (grade 3). What do I need to bring?
Appropriate walking clothes- breathable tops, jumpers, long pants (we suggest long pants over shorts to prevent scratches and insect bites)
Casual (warm if applicable) clothing to wear at Spicers Canopy
Personal medication (our guides carry first aid kits, however, please bring along any personal medication you might need over the four days)
Proper hiking boots (please see below ‘what style of boots do I need’ for more information)
Waterproof rain jacket (Spicers does not provide you with a rain jacket if you should encounter some wet weather)
Wide brimmed hat

What do I carry?
The only equipment you will carry is your hiking pack and the essentials you need for the walk that day. Items might include; a camera/GoPro, jumper, any personal medications you require, a hat, water bladder and your pre-prepared lunch. Your guides will also carry tea and coffee.
What style of boots do I need?
It is essential to have good quality, lace up hiking boots with good ankle support. They should preferably be waterproof and have a treaded sole. Boots must be worn- in to minimise the risk of blisters. Hiking shoes, walking or running shoes, sandshoes or similar are not acceptable.
What will the accommodation be like?
You can expect beautiful, custom built luxury eco-accommodation. You will spend your nights at the beautifully unique Spicers Canopy, an Advanced Eco-Tourism Accredited site with 10 safari-style tents with fine linens and Bemboka throws, exclusively used only by your group while you are on the hike.
How many guests will be on the walk?
The 2 Day walk is a minimum of 2 guests and a maximum of 16 guests.
How many guides?
The number of guides will depend on the group size. 1-5 guests will have 1 guide, 6+ guests will have 2 guides accompanying them.
Do we hike in wet weather conditions?
Yes. We will still commence the hike in most weather conditions (please bring along your sense of adventure) unless it poses a threat to the safety of our guests. If we cancel a walk we will be in contact with you to reschedule.
Is there an age limit?
We do have an age limit of 15 years and over. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Can I stay at Spicers Balfour Hotel the night before or after my trip?
Yes. We offer a discount for bed and breakfast accommodation at Spicers Balfour Hotel for our Scenic Rim Trail guests, which includes a beautiful gourmet breakfast in the restaurant at 6:30am before you transfer to the walk at 7:00am. Please call our Reservations Team to book on 13 77 42.
Can I extend my stay at another Spicers Retreat after my trip on the Scenic Rim Trail?
Yes, you can! It will be dependent on the availability of each retreat. To enquire about this please call our Reservations Team on 13 77 42.
Where is the meeting point if I elect to self-drive?
The meeting point is located on our private property, 7791 Cunningham Highway, Clumber, 4309, approximately one hour from Brisbane CBD. Please arrive at 8:30am on the morning of your departure. For a more accurate pinpoint of our driveway entrance and our meeting point please use the following coordinates;
Entrance to the driveway: 28°01’55.7″S 152°28’07.2″E (this will be accurate when copied into Google Maps)
Meeting Point: 28°02’10.3″S 152°28’18.4″E (this will be accurate when copied into Google)
Please note: If you are driving from the East (Brisbane/ Gold Coast) you will see our Scenic Rim Trail sign at the entrance to our driveway on the left-hand-side of the Cunningham Highway. You will NOT drive through Cunningham’s Gap to get to our meeting point if you are travelling from the East. Once you pass through Aratula we are located about 10 minutes further along the Cunningham Highway.
If you are driving from the West (Toowoomba/ Warwick) the sign will be on the right-hand-side of the Cunningham Highway. If you are travelling from the West we are located about 10 minutes after you pass through Cunningham’s Gap.
The driveway is about 1km long, please follow the Scenic Rim Trail directional signs all the way to the top of the hill, this is where your guide will be waiting for you.
What are the booking terms and conditions?
Payment: 50% due at the time of booking & the balance is payable 30 days prior to arrival.
Travel Insurance & booking conditions:
There is a minimum of 4 guests required for the walk to depart. We will advise you a minimum of four weeks prior to departure if the walk has not met minimum numbers to discuss alternate options.
In the circumstance of the booking being cancelled, the following terms and conditions will apply: Between 45 and 31 days (inclusive) prior to the arrival date of this booking, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply. Less than 30 days (inclusive) prior to the arrival date of this booking, any cancellations or changes to the booking, will incur a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the total rate for the booking. Please note – A date change to the booking has the same effect as a cancellation, as of 30 days from day of arrival. Any no shows or early departures will also be charged for.
It is recommended that you take out Travel Insurance prior to your arrival on the Scenic Rim Trail. Please make yourself familiar with these terms and conditions along with any other relevant travel costs associated with your trip. Spicers recommend using Covermore for travel insurance.
Can a transfer be organised from Brisbane?
Yes, we can organise a transfer for you from Spicers Balfour Hotel, located in New Farm Brisbane for $150 per person return.
