What level of fitness do I need to participate?

The Scenic Rim Trail is graded moderate to hard and is designed for people with a good level of fitness who have had previous hiking experience. If you are unsure about your fitness we recommend starting a dedicated training program at least 3 months in advance.

Day 1 | is graded moderate with uphill sections.

After your meet & greet the group will be transferred to the start of the walk (while luggage is transferred to camp) The first part of the trail to Mount Mathieson, is a gentle grade. From here the trail becomes more rugged with some steep rocky sections.

You will venture through World Heritage Listed Gondwana Rainforest and follow the path of early settlers onto the old Spicers Gap Road a heritage listed road. Enjoying morning tea & lunch on the trail we will descent into Spicers Peak Station crossing into the Peak Nature Refuge before walking into Spicers Canopy at approx. 3.30pm.

Day 2 | is graded as hard

Starting in the creek bed today after an hour of walking you will start ascending up to the ridge line. Uphill climbs, rock scrambling, magnificent views, magical rainforest & bushfire regeneration is on the agenda today. Afternoon tea will be at Spicers Peak either in the lodge or at one of the look-outs.
