We’ve always known our breakfast at Spicers Balfour Hotel is something special, and we’re delighted Brisbane’s The Sunday Mail thinks so too!
Food writer Wendy Hughes recently joined us at Spicers Balfour’s onsite restaurant The Balfour Kitchen and scored us an impressive 9.5 out of 10.
“Here is a place that ticks all the boxes and manages a rare balance: being quintessentially Queensland with an elegance that feels it could be anywhere in the world,” Wendy wrote.
“Service was swift but relaxed and friendly. My breakfast was a knockout, a poached egg perched atop a pert row of roasted mushrooms on toasted sourdough with wilted spinach and beetroot relish, crumbled feta and a not-too-shy delivery of dukah and baby herbs …The coffee was expertly extracted…”
We couldn’t agree more! But don’t just take our (or Wendy’s) word for it – we’d love for you to try our innovative breakfast menu for yourself.
There’s something for everyone, from free range eggs cooked just the way you like them to classics with a modern twist – think omelette with roasted kipfler potato, caramelised onion, chorizo and balsamic reduction. Then there’s the ever-popular big breakfast, made up of grilled bacon, potato croquettes, poached egg, grilled mushroom, tomato chilli jam and cotechino sausage.
Spicers Balfour Hotel is located in the beautiful Brisbane inner city suburb of New Farm. The Balfour Kitchen is open to the public for breakfast, high tea, dinner and functions.
