Chefs Serving Up Dreams to Aussie Kids

Four of the most talented Chefs in the country will come together to help Aussie kids at the Variety of Chefs event later this year. Variety of Chefs will be held in July and will showcase guests an exclusive culinary experience with a decadent four course menu and premium wines to match. It’s more than just a dining event, it’s an experience!

A formal and elegant gala dinner incorporating four talented Australian culinary greats donating their time for Variety and preparing the exquisite courses that will take guests’ taste buds on a journey around the abundant regions of Queensland. The 2017 Variety of Chefs will be held at none other than the Royal International Convention Centre, which is owned by RNA, with their unique historical 140-year association with Queensland farmers and producers this is the perfect pairing.

Chefs Cameron Matthews of The Long Apron, Ben Williamson of Gerard’s Bistro, Nick Holloway of Nu Nu Restaurant and Richard Ousby of Stokehouse Q, will take the night off from their busy restaurants to help Variety – the Children’s Charity raise funds to support Aussie kids and their dreams, through the Variety Scholarship Program.

They have a contagious passion for not only food but for supporting Variety – the Children’s Charity. Despite their busy work schedules and having their own families, they never waiver on their quest to have a positive impact in the community. Variety Queensland CEO, Steve Wakerley, said “Variety was blown away by the generosity, flair and energy from these talented Chefs to create the ultimate dining experience, all in the name of helping kids in need.” Steve said Variety is all about helping kids reach their full potential and that’s what the Scholarship Program is all about.

Steve continued, “Variety’s Scholarship Program provides scholarships for children with an existing talent, who are disadvantaged or living with a disability, to achieve their full potential and give them the opportunity to continue to follow their dreams. Noah Robinson, a previous scholarship recipient, who is here with us today, is a wonderful example of an amazing kid who is continuing to pursue his passion and dedication to swimming, putting him on track towards his ultimate goal of competing at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.”

In the spirit of cultivating future talent, the event will also see four young Chefs who are 2017 Appetite For Excellence candidates, team up with the headline Chefs to ensure a first-class dining experience. While the menu come July, will feature bespoke creations for hundreds of guests, today the chefs were teamed with some of our Variety family to whip up some kid-friendly creations. Celebrating their passion for not only food but for connecting with, educating and empowering Aussie kids, while highlighting how the joy of food and creating can bring people together.
