Five tips for hosting a dinner party from our Event Coordinator

1. Pick a theme

Whether it be a colour, a cuisine or serving style, embrace it and have fun! This will help when it comes to decision making and planning the event, allowing you to create a festive atmosphere and experience.

2. Let your guests MINGLE

There’s nothing worse than when you don’t have time to catch up with everyone amidst all of the eating! Make sure to let guests mingle before they have to sit down to eat. No one wants to feel rushed! It’s always nice to start off with charcuterie, cheese or even fruit platters for guests to nibble on before they settle in for a great night.

3. Atmosphere

Don’t forget to set the table with candles! Dim lighting also helps to create a wonderful atmosphere along with fresh flowers as they look great and smell wonderful! Another easy way to up you table setting game is with linen table cloths and napkins as they help to give a clean and classic look to your table and are much safer with candles. Lastly, don’t forget music! Just make sure it’s at the right volume – you want your guests to be able to hear it while still being able to talk and enjoy themselves.

4. Lots of wine

Always pick a sparkling wine or champagne to start, a nice light white; (riesling is great with Asian), a light pinot and a shiraz. These will guarantee your party to be a real crowd pleaser! Keep the glasses topped up as empty glasses call for early departures!


5. Don’t skip dessert!

Something sweet to finish is a must! You can’t go past something that uses delicious Australian summer fruits, or if you’re time poor never underestimate the power of some good quality boxed chocolates to go around!
