Spicers Hidden Vale’s Homestead – 1 year on
February 3, 2021
What a year it has been since the Homestead re-opened its doors after being burnt to the ground at Spicers Hidden Vale.
In April 2018 the ceiling of the nearly 100-year-old Homestead caught fire, sadly burning the building completely down. It marked almost 100 years ago to the day that another fire had burnt down the original farmhouse on the same site.
And so the rebuilding of the beautiful Homestead began. Completed in February 2020, the new Homestead pays homage to the history of its colourful past but incorporates modern luxurious finishings that Spicers Retreats are renowned for.
In the year since opening it has not been completely smooth sailing. With COVID-19 lockdowns being enforced 6 weeks after opening, the team at Homage had to quickly difersify their business to offer a takeaway option. After lockdown the Homestead was once again welcoming old guests and new guests eager to get out and explore the region.
With business booming and a new state of the art kitchen in the Homestead, the Homage team went on to be awarded two Chef Hats in the 2020 Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) as well as many more accolades. These include, Two Glasses in the Gourmet Traveller Wine List of Year Awards for 2020 and the Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the Restaurant & Catering Awards. Just recently Homage was awarded two Chef Hats in the Australian Good Food Guide for 2021.
Below is a timelapse video of the complete resurrection of the Homestead.
