Two days at Spicers Peak Lodge

A stay at Spicers Peak Lodge is a getaway like no other. Two hours from Brisbane and 1,100 metres above sea level, the location immerses you in the sights, sounds and spirit of an unspoiled wilderness. At its heart lies the palatial mountain lodge, where guests are enveloped in Spicers’ signature comfort and exquisite luxury, and every wish or whim is attended to. In the elegant mountain top haven, you’ll discover the highly-awarded The Peak Restaurant, which offers a dining experience that scales the dizzying heights of contemporary Australian cuisine led by Executive Chef Karl Reyes and elevated by friendly Sommelier Sam Ackerman’s extraordinary service.

DAY ONE

As you complete your ascent of the driveway and arrive at the plateau, you will catch a gorgeous glimpse of the magnificent lodge in the distance and a feeling of excitement and calm will wash over you – relaxation, luxury and good living await.

If you’re lucky you’ll be greeted by a herd of curious and hirsute Highland cattle. Luck aside though, our friendly team will be there to welcome you, take care of your bags, bring you a glass of bubbles to enjoy in the lounge and provide you with arrival information for your stay.

As you sink back into the cosy lounges and have your bubbles topped up, you can tell that this will be a very special getaway.

When you’re ready, a team member will show you to your table for lunch at The Peak, where the best of Australia on a plate awaits you.

Dishes such as Red Gum Lamb Rack, Kangaroo Island Marron and Abrohlos Island Scallops are illustrative of the approach and style, while classic ingredients such as duck breast, fish, pork and garden vegetables are teamed with native flavours.

Your surroundings only enhance the experience and on a beautiful crystal clear day, lunch on the terrace with views of the plateau is truly special – it’s very likely you’ll fancy extending this to a long-lunch to really soak in the moment.

Following lunch, retreat to your room for some quiet time or make your way to Spa Anise for a bit of indulgence.

The Mountain Escape treatment is a favourite with guests: a revitalizing therapy to fully pamper you from head to toe. This holistic treatment begins with a foot hot towel compress and foot scrub, then we move our way up for a ginger glaze salt back scrub. Melt away your stress and tension with a relaxing full body massage with your chosen Waterlily body bath oil serum. Your mountain escape journey continues with a tailored facial treatment designed to deeply cleanse, plump, smooth and hydrate the skin. Complete the experience with a soothing scalp massage infused with an orange hair balm.

It is highly recommended to book your treatment well ahead of your arrival date to ensure you don’t miss out.

After an afternoon spent unwinding, be sure to make your way to the lodge in time for sunset – it is not to be missed.

The place to be is undoubtedly our  sunset firepit. It has been built directly into the ground in front of the lodge. The curved seating area is designed to offer guests a comfortable spot to enjoy a glass of wine (or whatever takes your fancy), whilst taking in the unique, dramatic sunsets the that this magnificent location is known for.

This is a time and space that encourages conversation with fellow travellers and has seen many great stories told, laughs shared and new friendships formed.

Before you know it, it’s time to make your way to dinner to continue a gastronomic journey at The Peak. Take your seat in the dining room, which is filled with comfortable furnishings and is punctuated by the stone clad open fireplace.

DAY TWO

Start the day with a hearty big breakfast, a classic eggs benedict or perhaps something lighter like house granola – the choice is yours.

Enjoy some leisure time reading a book in your room, relaxing in the main lodge or exploring the plateau.

Next on the agenda is an adventure, as you embark on the must-do experience at Peak Lodge – the Can-Am Adventure. Discover the rugged terrain with a personal guide as you travel to the very edges of our stunning property. Venture through creek crossings, across extensive farmland and stop for a picnic lunch at tranquil Bellbird Weir.

Booking your Can-Am adventure well ahead of your arrival date is a must.

After a day of exploration, you’ll be ready to sit back and make the most of your final sunset at Peak Lodge and a sunset picnic with a view is a magnificent way to do so.

Upon sunset, it’s time to make your way back to the lodge to enjoy another drink by the firepit before your final dinner with The Peak.
